Black Sea Black Death Battle for Mt. Markotha

The mission of the 47th Army was to push out of the mountains and into the town of Novorossisk to link up with the Soviet Naval Landings. To do this the 318th mountain Rifle Division had to take Mt Markotha and the Red October Cement factory located on the bay of Novorossisk outside the town. There is also a key mountain pass just behind Mt. Markotha the Reds needed to capture. The pics show the Soviets pushing up the mountain valley while Rumanian and German forces delay them. Also a vicious fight took place to capture Mt. Markotha.
